29 days, this February

I’ve made a plan for 2012 and have decided to stick with it. I started on February first and I’m going for 29 days without alcohol. Crazy you might think, but they say it takes 21 days to break a habit so I’m going to see if I can last. Instead of wasting money every weekend – I’m going to use that time to workout, plan and relax.

Also, I’m making an effort to go as paleo as I can. I’m not going to be strictly 100% paleo – but rather ease myself into it. I have to start running outside as much as possible so I’ve chosen to push myself and not re-new my gym membership until I really need it. So my plan for the next month looks like this:

1. Paleo lifestyle (not paleo diet because I’m not going on a “diet”)

2. Running outside (I need to get back to distance outside running – it’s completely different from treadmill running) If you are in Vancouver and are looking for a running/training buddy – let me know!

3. Welcome back into my life kettlebell training (I went to a class here in Vancouver, and I’m hooked – I am planning on training as much as I can 2-3 days a week)

4. When the weather is crappy and I don’t want to leave the house, Insanity will be my workout of choice in my living room (now that we have a living room!)

I’ve decided to get back to kettle bell training. For those of you who don’t know what that is, it’s basically using your own body weight to swing this thing around:

I’ll be explaining different techniques over the next few weeks once I get back into my scheduled classes, but for now watch this video and take a look at what’s involved with kettle bell training:

I have to share this great meal I made for myself on Tuesday night: Roasted veggies (I’m LOVING yams lately), a mushroom and rice burger, avocado and salsa on the side. Delicious :)

I’m adjusting slowly but surely into our new place… but the transit commute is worse than where we used to live :( I’m seriously considering taking a week off work to fly to Halifax and drive my car back myself… does anyone want to join me in the trip across Canada? I’m open to suggestions and options!

My inspirational quote for the week:

Pain is temporary, quitting lasts forever.
